you do know the millennia-long and elaborate history of how the Bible came to be, correct? ..emperors, Nicæan and all-the-other-less-famous councils, bishops, entire-texts-purposefully-left-on-the-cutting-room-floor, re-writes, popes, mis-translations, kings, authorial intention, tabooed scriptures, lost texts, forever unknown authors, sabotage, Q, and on and on... I'll stop there, but it is extremely fascinating and complex. My point is, the Bible is highly modified (although admittedly probably not normally in the way you found offensive in this example -- possibly lacking reverence(?) or respect? -- but I certainly won't assume to know your values or thoughts =). Oh, and NZR.
